The required number is 18

Given:

Thrice the number added to its 4/3th gives 78.

To find:

Find the above number

Solution:

Let x be the required number

Given that thrice the number added to its 4/3th and the resultant number is 78.

thrice of the number x = 3x

4/3th of the x = \frac{4}{3} (x) = \frac{4x}{3}

From given data Sum of 3x and  \frac{4x}{3} is 78

⇒ 3x + \frac{4x}{3} = 78

\frac{9x+4x}{3} = 78

⇒ 9x + 4x = 234

⇒ 13x = 234

⇒ x = 234/13 = 18

Therefore the required number is 18
