The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;
And ’tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes.
The birds around me hopped and played,

the poet sat reclined in the green bower(shady place)so the periwinkle (flower) trailed (move through)its wreath(branches) so the periwinkle trailed its branches between the primrose

the poet makes a contrast better humans and nature that the flowers enjoy everything and even the air where as humans are greedy and do not enjoy anything

the birds were flying around and happy enjoying the freedom. the poet cannot understand what was going on in the mind of the birds but looking at their motion and movements he was sure they were happy
