Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan, also known as Badshah Khan and Frontier Gandhi was one of the most known figures of the indian National movement.

- Abdul Gaffar Khan was born in 1890 in the West Pakistan,( then the North West Frontier Province) in a well of Pashtun family.
- In 1911 when studying in Aligarh Muslim University, he first participated in any national movement.
- He actively lead protests against the British government for proposing the Rowlatt Act.
- His political viewpoint changed after he met Gandhi, and became his lifelong follower.
- In 1919, he also actively participated in the Khilafat movement which was launched to show Hindu Muslim unity and was against the oppressive regime of the British government.
- He also formed an organisation named Khudai Khidmatgar, which means servers of the God.
- His followers actively participated in the Salt March, or Salt Satyagragh.
- He also participated in the Quit India Movement in 1942, and was also among the close group of advisers of the Congress party.
- He was a staunch believer of Gandhain philosophies of Satya and Ahimsha, truth and non- violence.
- He had worked relentlessly for Hindu Muslim unity, and was against the partition of India, but after partition chose to live in Pakistan, where he was born.
- In 1987, the Government of India honoured his contributions by awarding him the Bharat Ratna.
