Answer:

swaminathan's behavior in the story wasn't a model behavior. he build lies upon lies to make his previous lies stand and at the end all the lies and punishments he received were wasted. this story also has the moral not to lie because the outcome of all these lies will not be favorable. In the story "father's help" Swaminathan, the main character of the story who like any boy despises going to school, in the story swaminathan's main motive was not to go to school and hence he makes an excuse  of a headache and convinces his mother but this wasn't the case with his father. his father wasn't convinced by swaminathan's headache and hence to make it more believable swaminathan came up with another reason about how cruel the teacher "samuel" was with the students, this too wasn't enough to convince his father. his father wrote a letter to the principal which swaminathan knew held all his words and the anger of his father,  he knew his father was an obstinate man hence, he wouldn't take it back. while on the way to school swaminathan promised himself to make samuel angry and get scolded by samuel. but, while reaching the class, samuel was very kind and didn't give any harsh punishments to the students. this made it more difficult for swaminathan and by the end of the school day he managed to try all kinds of tricks and was finally beaten up very badly by samuel. he was very happy and contended, even though it pained, he now had a proof of samuel's punishments. but, on reaching the principal's office he came to know that the principle was on leave. this destroyed all his plans and getting scolded by samuel has gone to waste. and at the end on reaching his home, his father was very angry because of his spineless act. and said that swaminathan deserved samuel's punishment. so, at the end everything swami did had gone to waste, all the lies and all the beatings from samuel.
