King Bimbisara (558 – 491 BC) and his son Ajatashatru (492 – 460 BC) were contemporaries of Buddha And Mahavira. They belonged to the Haryanka dynasty and were known for their cultural achievements and support to Buddhism.

Buddhism was founded upon teachings of Gautama Buddha and Mahavira’s teachings gave birth to Jainism. Both religions share similar features, but emphasis on these features is different between both.

Mahavira has lived from 599 BCE to 527 BCE. On the other end, Gautama Buddha lived from 480 BCE to 400 BCE.

from the above it very clear that before Gautama Buddha born, Mahavira had achieved redemption for about.

This clearly shows that they have never met and has the contemporaries.

The reason why they were contemporaries is because they lived a the same time ( age difference is just 36 years).
