throwing sand on fire puts it out . why ?​

Explanation:

Actually fire needs to be combined with oxygen (combustion process). In the absence of oxygen gas dire can't be burned.

So, if fire is covered with sand , it doesn't combine with oxygen, so combustion process will not take place.

In absence of combustion process, fire can't be burnt. So Fire will be put off.

Sand would cut off the supply of oxygen which is important for combustion to take place
