Since is used an event is still happening which was started in past .

For is used when you know that a even happened and also ended .

1. a ] It has been snowing since two days . ( The word 'snowing' tells that it's still snowing .)

2. a ] India has been republic since 1950.

3. a ] Sujata has worked here for a week (the word 'worked' shows that she is not working anymore )

4. a ] I haven't seen a play since a long time .

5. b] Umesh has been playing guitar since a long time .

6. a] Chavi has been playing football since she started living in Germany .

7. b]  Danish hasn't been to school since Monday due to fever .

Tip :

In grammar , there is always a concept follows . You have a set of rules to be followed . Once you get that completely and state the reason , you will get confident on your answer . And if you have a reasonable reason , then why will you be wrong ?
