The required answer is 20.

As per the question we need to find the how many tickets of the type without a meal.

The given data is tickets to the high school reunion cost $35 with a meal and $25 without a meal. The reunion committee sells 70 tickets for $2,250.

Let y tickets of the type without a meal were sold,and x tickets of the type with a meal were sold.

Then according to the question we conclude that

x + y = 70,............ (1)

$35x+$25y = $2250..........(2)

from equation 1 we get

x = 70-y,

Now put the x value in 2 we get

35(70-y) + 25y =2250

2450 -35y+25y = 2250,

2450-2250 =10y

200=10y

y=20.

Hence the required answer is 20.
