In the story Tiger in tunnel is the story of human struggle in the forces of nature because Baldeo the Watchman was going to do his duty at midnight . He had heard the tales of man-eater tiger but did not believe in them because from the time he was doing his duty he had never seen a tiger but one day in the midnight he heard the low grunt from the top of the cuttings and he thought that only a tiger could emit such a noise. He grapsed for his axe firmly and tensed his body and trying to make out the direction from which the animal was approaching. He saw the tiger in front of him. He attacked the tiger by his axe on his shoulder and the axe struck in the bone of tiger and tiger was in pain. Baldeo was left without a weapon and the tiger attacked the Baldeo and tear the Baldeo's body and the tiger moved off and sat down licking his wounded leg. The train came from the tunnel and the train carried the tiger with him.
