The value of k is 2 if ( -3, 12),(7 , 6)  & ( k,9) are collinear.

  • To check the points are collinear, slopes of two pair of points should be equal.
  • Collinear points are the points which lie on the same line.
  • Given points are (-3,12),(7,6) and (k,9) and the points are collinear.
  • We have to find the value of k .
  • Now,

Slope between points (-3,12) and (7,6) = Slope between points (7,6) and (k,9)

\frac{6-12}{7-(-3)} = \frac{9-6}{k-7}

\frac{-6}{10} = \frac{3}{k-7}

k-7 = \frac{30}{-6}

k-7 = -5

k = 2

  • The value of k is 2.
