Time period is defined as the time interval in which the pendulum makes one oscillation. To measure it why you are advised the indirect approach of first measuring time of 20 oscillations and then calculate time of one oscillation, instead of simply measuring the time of 1 oscillation by the stop watch?Time period is defined as the time interval in which the pendulum makes one oscillation. Doing it 20 times gives u an average which is more accurate and easier to measure than a single oscillation.
