Every year, the world-renowned, US published Time news magazine holds a readers' poll to choose a person, a group, an idea or an object that for better or worse has most influenced the events of the year. After the readers have made their choice, the leading contenders are short-listed and the editors of the reputed magazine select the person who they feel should be named as the person of the year.
This year, Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Damodardas Modi, has already been voted as their no. 1 choice by the readers, by polling 18% of the votes and leaving his nearest rival behind by a whopping 10%. It is now up to the editors to make their decision.
