Timothy took his time to school,
There's sums, and writing and spelling too,
Plenty of time he took;
And an apple tree to climb.
But some he lost in the tadpole pool,
Timothy has a lot to do-
And some in the stickleback brook;
How shall he find the time?
Ever so much in the linnet's nest,
And more on the five-barred gate-
Timothy sought it high and low:
Timothy took his time to school,
He looked in the tadpole pool
But he lost it all and he was late.'
To see if they'd taken the time to grow
That he lost on the way to school.'
Timothy has a lot to do-
He found the nest, and he found the tree
How shall it all be done?
And he found the gate he had crossed,
Why, he never got home till close on two,
Though he might have been back by one.
But Timothy never shall find
The time that Timothy lost.
