In August 1398 A.D Timur began his journey from Kabul with a motive to invaded India and soon reached Delhi in December in the same year. He captured Multan after crossing  Indus and soon reached  Delhi without facing much resistance.He plundered and captured many towns on his way to Delhi.

The last Sultan of the Tughlaq dynasty ,Sultan Mahmud Shah   and his Prime minister ran away from Delhi. Timur passed order for a general massacre and continued plundering for next 15 days.
