To Find :  Which measure of the cylinder will be 8 inches

Solution:

Tina curled an 8 inch by 10 inch rectangular piece of paper along one of its sides to form an open cylinder with a height of 10 inches.

Hence height of cylinder = 10 inches

and circumference of base of cylinder will be  8 inches

You can understand this  by this :

curved surface area of cylinder = surface area of paper

= ( 2π r ) h  =  10 x 8

height is 10 inches

=> ( 2π r ) * 10  =  10 x 8

=>  2π r = 8  

2π r is  circumference of base of cylinder

Hence circumference of base of cylinder will be 8 inches
