. Tina goes to a ration shop and inspects the open gunny bags of rice kept for

display. She selects one of the varieties of rice and asks the shopkeeper to pack 5

kgs of the said rice. The shopkeeper‟s assistant packs 5kgs of the said rice in a

brown paper bag, secures it with a string and tells Tina that her rice is packed and

ready and keeps it on the counter. As Tina is about to pay the money one other

customer drops kerosene on the bag of rice. Discuss who shall bear the loss caused.

the another customer should bear the loss as it is caused because of his/her carelessness.

as tina has not paid the rice is not her so she is not responsible for bearing the loss and shopkeeper has the right to fine the another customer.
