Tina needed a square of side 4 cm for completing a collage. She had a rectangular sheet of

length 28 cm and breadth 21 cm (Fig 1). She cuts off a square of side 4 cm from the rectangular sheet

(Fig2).

i) Her friend saw the remaining sheet and asked Tina,

a) Has the perimeter of the sheet increased or decreased and by how much?

b) Has the area increased or decreased and by how much?

ii) Tina cuts off one more square of 4 cm side from the opposite side (Fig 3).

c) Will the perimeter of the remaining sheet increase further?

d) Will the area increase or decrease further?

e) What inferences can be drawn from this scenario?​
