an angel in disguise is a beautiful story by TS Arthur . the title, "angel in disguise" has an internal meaning in the story .
The story has a dead drunken mother with three children, one of them having her spine injured and thus, was bed- ridden. the first two kids were adopted by the people but no one wanted a bed - ridden sick child who was of no use. but a wheelwright Joe Thomas shows pity on the crippled girl , Maggi, and takes her to his home.
The villagers had given a suggestion to admit the bed ridden child in an orphanage which would be a gift for her , but Joe Thomas did show a little pity on her and thought of taking him to his house.
His house was really dull as he and his wife had no children of their own. they lived all alone and had no joy. Bringing Maggi to the house, his wife first became furious... but slowly her heart melted and she felt fine keeping the poor little thing her home. she was really king to Maggi and this brought love and happiness to Joe's house . Maggi here is referred as the angel to bring joy , love and brightness in their house.
and thus the title " Angle in disguise" is justified.
