To a man on the bank how will the man immersed in water
appear toller shorter

Apparent height of a person will be less when viewed from outside the water.
the person inside water appears to be very short...

This is due to refraction.

kvnmurty: the bottom of the object or the feet of the person seem to be lifted much more than the lift in the top part of the object or the man... so object appears shorter.
