• First, select the object you want to animate.
• Click on the More drop-down arrow in the Animation group on the Animations tab.  
• A drop-down menu should appear for the animation effects. Choose which effect you want.
• The effect should apply to the item. Next to it, the object will have a small number to show it has an animation. Next to the slide will also appear a star sign in the Slide window.
