In a democratic country people are the one who actually rules..
So the party leaders make promises regarding the welfare of the people and the nation before elections. During elections they choose their representative. And after the election the representative who got the highest vote rules and looks for the nation/ state.
By this we can say that the people rules the country through their representative and democracy is thus enhanced. So it is important that people should choose their representative wisely.
