To carry out the so called "electrolysis of water", sulphuric acid is added to water. ...Sulphuric acid helps in dissociating water into hydrogen and hydroxide ions in water

the addition of sulphuric acid in water leads to the production of H3O+ ions which are freely ready to react in the solution. Thus more availability of free particles leads to faster flow of electricity. Thus acidic water conducts electricity at a faster rate.

Hope this helps!
