alkanes are saturated carbon compounds with single bonds
alkenes and alkynes are unsaturated carbon compounds with 2 or 3 bonds

Alkanes are the simplest organic compounds consist of only hydrogen and carbon bonded with only single bonds between carbon atoms . formula= CnH2n+2.

(2)ALKENES:
an unsaturated hydrocarbon that contains at least one carbon–carbon double bond.
formula = CnH2n.

(3)ALKYNES:
 It is an unsaturated hydrocarbon containing at least one carbon—carbon triple bond.
formula: CnH2N-2.
