Cistron is a double stranded DNA segment which codes polypeptides.

For coding 50 amino acids 51 codons are needed (50 codons + 1 stop codon)

Each codon is triplet. And triplet have 3 nitrogen bases.

So number of nucleotide for 51 codons =51*3=153

So total number of nucleotides will 153 *2 =306(Cistron is a double stranded DNA segment which codes polypeptides. So adding nucleotides of both the strands)

Answer is (3)

Cistron is a double strandard DNA segments which codes polypeptides . For coding 50 amino acids 51 codons are needed . One codon is stop codon which never codes aminoacids . Each codon is triplet .Triplet have three nitrogen base represent nucleotide ...So the number of nucleotide for 51 codons =51×3=153 . This nucleotides are from single strand of cistron ..so the total no. of nucleotides will
=153+153
=306
(adding nucleotides of both strand)

hope it helps you.....
