Not only Tipu Sultan but also his father allied with the French to combat and oust the British from India. Tipu Sultan sought an alliance with Napoleon Bonaparte, the commander-in-Chief of French army. Tipu Sultan got trained from French officers and french army and Tipu fought hand in hand against the British in India.
