Given :  X is 40% more efficient than Y, and Z is 40% less efficient than Y. Working together, they  can complete the task in 21 days.

To find : remaining work will be completed by A  alone in how many days

Solution:

Y's  1 day work    =  Y

X is 40% more efficient than Y

=> X's 1 day work  = Y + (40/100)Y = 1.4Y

Z is 40% less efficient than Y

=> Z's 1 day work  = Y - (40/100)Y = 0.6Y

Working together, they  can complete the task in 21 days.

=> Total Works = 21 ( Y + 1.4Y + 0.6Y)  = 63Y

Y and Z together worked for 35 days

=> work done =  35 (Y + 0.6Y) = 56Y

Remaining work = 63Y - 56Y = 7Y

remaining work will be completed by X   = 7Y / 1.4Y  = 5  Days

remaining work will be completed by A  alone in 5 Days
