Answer:

5 sets

Step-by-step explanation:

To complete one set of bookshelves a carpenter needs the following components:-

4 long wooden panels

6 short wooden panels

12 small clips

2 large clips and 14 screws

The carpenter has in stock 26 long wooden panels, 33 short wooden panels, 200 small clips, 20 large clips and 510 screws. How many complete sets of bookshelves can the carpenter make ?

Solution:

According to question,

(We will be avoiding decimal values)

Out of 26 long wood panels only = 26 / 4 ≈ 6 sets of bookshelves can

be made.

Out of 33 short wood panels only = 33 / 6 ≈ 5 sets of bookshelves can

be made.

Out of 200 small clips only = 200 / 12 ≈ 16 sets of bookshelves can

be made.

Out of 20 large clips only = 20 / 2 ≈ 5 sets of bookshelves can

be made.

Out of 510 screws only = 510 / 14 ≈ 36 sets of bookshelves can

be made.

But , every material will be used collectively to make a bookshelf.

By , above calculation we can see that if we want to create 6 sets according to the amount of wood panels we are having then there will be shortage of short wood panels so , a bookshelf can't be made and we can relate this thing to other things use to make in bookshelf. Every time there is one or the other thing which is less.

But, if we create 5 sets of bookshelves according to short wood panels then all things will be in sufficient amount like right amount of long wooden panels, small clips , large clips and screws.

There will be 5 complete sets which carpenter can make with his stock.

The correct answer is 5 sets.

Given:

To complete one set of bookshelves a carpenter needs the following components:-

4 long wooden panels

6 short wooden panels

12 small clips

2 large clips and 14 screws

The carpenter has in stock:-

26 long wooden panels, 33 short wooden panels, 200 small clips, 20 large clips and 510 screws.

To Find: Number of  complete sets of bookshelves the carpenter can make.

By , above calculation we can see that if we want to create 6 sets according to the amount of wood panels we are having then there will be shortage of short wood panels.

But, if we create 5 sets of bookshelves according to short wood panels then all things will be in sufficient amount like right amount of long wooden panels, small clips , large clips and screws.

There will be 5 complete sets which carpenter can make with his stock.

Hence, 5 complete sets of bookshelves can be made.
