To construct a rectangle, we need to know only length and breadth. (option c)

  • In case of a rectangle, two of its compulsory geometrical properties are -
  1. All the interior angles are right angles. (90°)
  2. The length of the opposite sides will be equal.
  • The only variable element is, the length and breadth of the rectangle. It can vary in infinite number of ways.
  • So, from the above-mentioned properties, we can simply cancel out the necessity of measurements of interior angles, as all of them are mandatorily 90°.
  • Similarly, we don't need to know length of all four sides, as opposite sides of a rectangle are equal. We only need to know lengths of two adjacent sides (one smaller, one longer) , the other two adjacent sides will be the equal replicas of their respective opposite sides.
  • Those two adjacent sides, are nothing but the length and breadth of the rectangle. Smaller one is considered as breadth and longer one is considered as length. After knowing the dimensions of these two, we can easily draw the required rectangle.
