Draw tangents to a circle from an external point without using centre. Give justication as to why there are the tangents Note:Do not find the centre to solve the sum.

e.g. Draw a circle of radius 4 cm and constructa tangent to it from an external point without using centre. Steps of construction: 1) Take point O and draw a circle of radius 4 cm. 2) Take any point P out side the circle. 3) Through the external point P draw a straight line PBA meet the given circle at A and B. 4) With AP as diameter , draw a semicircle. 5) Draw BC ⊥ AP, which intersects the semicircle at C. 6) With P as centre and radius PC draw an arc cutting the given circle at Q .Join PQ Then PQ is the required tangent. Justification: It touches the circle then it is a tangent.
