ACTIVITY

Aim : To show experimentally that carbon dioxide is present in exhaled air.

Material required :

1) Freshly prepared lime water in test tube

2)cork having two holes

3)glass tubing bent at 90 degrees

Procedure:

1) Take a half filled test tube will freshly prepared lime water.

2)fix the cork in the mouth of test tube.

3)fix glass tubing in the test tube such that tubing  is dipped in lime water .

4) exhale out air in the tubing  through your mouth till 1 minute vigorously.

Observation:

We will observe that the color of lime water will turn milky.

Conclusion:

Since, the color of lime water turn milky only when reacts with carbon dioxide hence , we can conclude that carbon dioxide is present in exhaled air.
