1) In electronic , a current voltage characteristics curve.
2) Semiconductor curve tracer ,a device for displaying the above curve.
3) In photography,a plot of film density: see sensirometry.
4) In mathematics, used in method of characteristics for solving partial differential equations.
● Reverse breakdown voltage:
Breakdown voltage of an insulator is minimum voltage that causes portion of an insulator to became electrically conductive.
For diode ,breakdown voltage is minimum reverse voltage that makes the diode conduct appreciably in reverse.Some device like TRIACs also have forward breakdown voltage.
