Steps:

• Take a glass of water filled to the brim and place it under a thick and smooth card.
• Press the card so hard that there is no air left in the glass.

The hand holding the card can be withdrawn slowly.

Result:

The card does not fall down because the atmospheric pressure acts on the card in downward direction. The upward pressure of the glass is greater than the downward pressure of the card.
