To fill a tank, 25 buckets of water is required. How many buckets of water will be required to fill the same tank if the capacity of bucket is reduced to two-fifth of its present ?

so the capacity of 1 bucket is 1/25

capacity of a bucket

= 1/25 *2/5

= 2/125

Now one bucket can fill 2/125 of the tank

so no. of buckets required to fill 1 full tank = a number which when multiplied by 2/125 will result in 1

such a number is 125/2, ie the reciprocal of 2/125.

therefore 125/2 buckets of water will fill the same tank
