How to measure the perimeter of a closed figure with help of a thread

Step 1: Take a long thread

Step 2: Place it along the perimeter(Outer sides of a figure)

Step 3:When the thread reaches again to its initial point, cut the thread from that exact point.

Step 4:Now take off the thread on the figure and measure its length, The length thus obtained is the perimeter of the figure.
