Steps are given below to find the refractive index of oil and water by using plane mirror and equiconvex lens.
Explanation:
Steps are:
- Take a stand hold the needle at the focus of convex lens and place the convex lens upon the plane mirror.
- Through this the image will form inverted bu of same magnification at the point where object is placed.
- u and v have same value. Now, put the water to check its refractive index.
- The value of V changes which changes the position of image.
- Now, Refractive index =
- Do same with oil to get refractive index of oil.
