Question :

To fix fence wires in a garden , 70m long and 50m wide ,Anaiah bought metal pipes for bosts. he fixed a post every 5metres apart. Each post was 2m long. What is the total length of the pipes he bought for the posts?

Given :

In a garden,

Length = 70 m

Breadth = 50 m

To find perimeter of the garden :

Perimeter = 2 × (Length + Breadth)

                 = 2 × (70 + 50)

                 = 2 × 120

                 = 240 m.

Anaiah fixed a post every 5 metres apart.

Number of posts = \frac{240}{5} = 48.

Length of each of post is 2 m.

Total length of the pipe = 48 × 2 = 96 m.

Therefore, the total length of the pipes bought for the posts is 96 m.
