England was a modern nation. Due to industrial revolution, capitalist economy prevailed. Hence to increase their economy they made changes in our land revenue system. The changes were:-

1. Land was measured and as per the area of the land, the tax was fixed. This was also known as Lagaan.

2. Payment of tax was made compulsory in the form of cash.

3. If the farmer failed to pay the taxes in time, his land would be confiscated.

4. The British system of land revenue collection differed from places to places which led to exploitation of all the farmers.
