Given:

To increase the sales of ball pens, a shopkeeper sells a packet of ball pens at ₹ 224 which is 64% of its original price.

To find:

The original cost of a packet of ball pens

Solution:

Let "x" represents the original cost of the packet of ball pens.

The selling price of the packet of ball pens = ₹ 224

According to the question, we get

64% of the original price = selling price of the packet of ball pens

i.e., 64\% \:of \:x = 224

\frac{64}{100} \times x = 224

x = \frac{224 \times 100}{64}

x = \frac{22400}{64}

\bold{x = 350}

Thus, the original cost of a packet of ball pens is → ₹ 350.
