the quantity of tin = 2x

Given, quantity of copper = 31. 5 grams

=> 5x = 31.5

=> x = = 6.3 grams

Quantity of tin added = 2 x 6.3 grams = 12.6 grams

Hence, 12.6 grams tin is to be added with 31.5 grams of copper to get the alloy.
