To pass an exam a student has score 40% of the maximum marks. if Raj scores 128 marks and failed by 8 mark.find the maximum marks

Let the max. marks be "x"

As per the given information

40% of x = 136

(40/100) x = 136

0.4 x = 136

x = 136/0.4

x = 340
