To plough 30 acres of land by tractor, Shankarbhai takes 10 hours and Yakubbhai takes 15 hours. If both plough the same land together, they get Rs.6000 as remuneration. How much amount will each get?

Yakubbhai = 24000 Rs

◆ Explanation -

Drivers get a total of 60000 to plough 30 acres.

Charges/acre = 60000/30

Charges/acre = 2000 Rs/acre

Let x acres be land ploughed by Shankarbhai, then remaining 30-x acres land will be ploughed by Yakubbhai.

Both worked for same time, therefore -

x × 10 = (30-x) × 15

10x = 450 - 15x

25x = 450

x = 18 acres

Thus Shankarbhai ploughed 18 acres and Yakubbhai ploughed 30-18=12 acres.

Share of Shankarbhai in income -

Shankarbhai = land ploughed × charges/acre

Shankarbhai = 18 × 2000

Shankarbhai = 36000 Rs

Share of Yakubbhai in income -

Yakubbhai = land ploughed × charges/acre

Yakubbhai = 12 × 2000

Yakubbhai = 24000 Rs
