Indicator :KMnO4 is a self indicator.

End point : colourless to light pink

Preparation :

Volume of oxalic acid solution :100ml

Molarity :M/20

Volume of oxalic acid taken in the the pipette :10

Then we perform the titration and record the readings in the observation table.

Don't copy these readings. Take your own readings.

1st reading:-

Initial reading = 1ml

Final reading = 13ml

Volume of KMnO4 used=12ml

2nd reading :-

Initial reading = 13ml

Final reading = 26.3ml

Volume of KMnO4 used=13.3ml

3rd reading :-

Initial reading = 26.5ml

Final reading = 39.8ml

Volume of KMnO4 used=13.3ml

Concordant volume= 13.3

Calculation:-

M KMnO4 x V KMnO4 / M oxalic acid x V oxalic acid = 2/5 (from the balanced redox reaction)

M KMnO4 = 2 x M oxalic acid x V oxalic acid / 5x V KMnO4

M KMnO4 = 2/5 x 1/20 x 10 x 1/13.3

M KMnO4 = 2/ 10 x 13.3

M KMnO4 = 0.015

Result:-

The Molarity of the given KMnO4 solution is 0.015 M.
