Hello dear,

◆ Determining the molarity of the given KMnO4 solution -

Take known volume of KMnO4 solution and titrate it against oxalic acid of M/40 concentration.

Balanced molecular eqn is-

2KMnO4 + 2H2SO4 + 5(COOH)2 ---> K2SO4 + 2MnSO4 + 18H2O + 10CO2

(a) Molarity-

M(KMnO4)×V(KMnO4) / M(oxalic acid)×V(oxalic acid) = 2/5

M(KMnO4)×V(KMnO4) / (1/40)×V(oxalic acid) = 2/5

M(KMnO4) = V(oxalic acid) / 100V(KMnO4)

(b) Strength -

Strength(KMnO4) = M(KMnO4) × molecular mass

Hope this is useful...

Answer:

(a) Molarity-

M(KMnO4)×V(KMnO4) / (1/40)×V(oxalic acid) = 2/5

M(KMnO4) = V(oxalic acid) / 100V(KMnO4)

(b) Strength -

Strength(KMnO4) = M(KMnO4) × molecular mass
