To put out a fire, you have to do one or more of the following:
• Keep oxygen away from the fire
• Take the heat away from the fire
• Take the fuel away from the fire

The density of carbon dioxide is about 1.8g per 1000cm3.

The density of the air is about 1.2g per 1000cm3

Use the information above to explain why carbon dioxide is used to out out fires.
