Let us take an Example -

Rationalize the Denominator ⇒ 1/2 - √3

= 1/2 - √3 × 2 + √3/2 + √3

= 2 + √3/(2 - √3)(2 + √3)

= 2 + √3/(2)² - (√3)²

= 2 + √3/4 - 3

= 2 + √3

∴ We have to multiply the number with same number only we have to interchange the signs.
