Ruskin Bond once said that though he does not believe in ghosts, he sees them everywhere. This story makes the reader ponder about what actually happened to Mr.Oliver and who actually were the faceless people. Reading the story we tend to believe that what Mr oliver saw was a ghost though it might also be a mischief by a student but we feel deflected towards the idea of existence of ghosts, we usually explain a supernatural situation by ghosts where science seems to fail us. The way in which just a sight of a faceless boy frightened a 'non imaginative' and 'brave' man shows the great sway of ghosts over human life.
