place a potted plant in a totally dark room to make it starch-free.Remove one leaf from the plant and test it for the presence of starch.then,cover one part of a leaf of this plant by a black paper strip.this potted plant is now kept in sunlight.after a few hours,we test the presence of starch in this leaf.it is seen that the exposed part of the leaf turns blue-black but the covered part does not turn blue black,because the covered part does not get sunlight.
