Let smaller number be x and larger number be y

So, y=x+7 and y² = x² + 77

⇒(x+7)² =  x² + 77

⇒ x² + 14x + 49 = x² + 77

⇒ 14x = 77-49 = 28

⇒ x = 2

So y = 2+7 = 9
