Given

  • the equation 9y = 72

To find

  • to explain the purpose of each step that leads to the answer

Solution

we are provided with a linear equation and are asked to explain in detail the motive of the each step carried out so as to reach to our final answer.

The linear equation provided,

9y = 72

Here, 9 represent the left hand part and 72 represent the right hand part of the equation

we have to find the value of y so we need to isolate it from the equation at one side, so we are keeping the term containing y in LHS and all other terms (in this case 72) in RHS

The term containing y that is, 9y have 9 in additional to our need of y. Therefore, we have to avoid the factor 9 from it. for the recent we shall divide 9 throughout the equation., ie,

9y/9 = 72/9 ( dividing by 9)

y = 8

Thus, we are able to isolate y and are able to find the solution for y that is 8

Step 1: Given data

9y=72

Step 2: Evaluating the given equation

When we divide the given equation by 9

9y=72

\frac{9y}{9}=\frac{72}{9}

y=8

Thus, the given equation is solved when we divide both the LHS and RHS by 9.

Hence, option B is correct.
