when acid reacts with base it forms a salt and water....and the reaction is known as neutralisation reaction.

HCl + NaOH-->  NaCl + H2O

Acid has H+ ions and on the other hands base has OH- ions

So if the neutrillization reaction takes place the productys formed will be salt and water

This means

Acid+Base=>>Salt+Water

For example

KOH(aq)+HNO3(aq)=>KNO3(aq)+H2O(l)
